Assignment that I am the most proud of

I am most proud of my landscape and architecture photographs. I am most proud of this biweekly photograph assignment because I really spent a lot of time trying to create the best photographs possible. I really enjoyed the light I had at the time of the photos and I also really like how crystal clear the photos turned out. This work impacted my learning because I realized if you spend tie and effort on something like photographs you can create a very good finished project. I think that if people take small amounts of time together to take photos they can create a vast variety of good looking photographs. I did find it hard for some of the biweekly photographs to find a ton of extra time for photographs because of the fact that you need the right light to create the best photo.

Most Memorable Experiences

My two most memorable experiences from this semester would be when we took a field trip to the Cumberland Fair and creating fun levitation photos. The Cumberland Fair was overall a great experience because not only was it a break from the plain landscape throughout the school it also gave us time to take in things other than the rides and games of the fair. We had a scavenger hunt at the cumberland fair which forced us to look for different things throughout the fair. I also enjoyed creating the levitation photos because it showed how much you can do in photoshop and twist reality. These have impacted my learning by not only teaching me new things about technology but these two assignments showed that there is always more to a photo than just one snapshot.

Darkroom Printing from a Digital Photograph

I did enjoy working in the dark room very much. I thought it was a different fun experience where we were able to create a finalized product using our hands not just printing out a photo. I liked that it was hands on and we got to see the chemicals and liquids reacting to the photos before our own eyes. I really enjoyed this because it was much more fun than just printing out a photo on a printer we actually got to witness what was happening in those bins. One thing I learned was how a photograph would have been done if the original photo was taken on film. I was very surprised by how nice of quality the photos came out on the photo paper. Overall I liked the dark room experience and would love to do it starting with film instead of a negative photo we printed.

Winter Holiday Spirit

Winter Spirit
by Gibson Harnett
The cool winter air lashed my face
I attempted to hold the camera steady as my hands shook
The sun set slowly into the snow covered trees
The last leaf floated to the ground
Then just darkness

One spirit

Who am I?

I am Gibson. I like baseball, basketball, soccer, guitar, music, professional sports. Family and friends are very important to me along with school. I devote a lot of time to my sports and to my school life. My goal in life is to graduate high school and go to a really good college. I do not necessarily know what I want to do after college but we'll see. My dream in life is to play college baseball and or professionally. I know this is very unlikely but everyone can hope.

Forced Perspective

  • To practice altering perspective and looking at subjects in a unique way;
  • To further develop your Photoshop knowledge and skills;

During this project I believe I had many successes. The first was I got a better feel for photoshop. This will definitely help with future projects and assignments I receive in the future. I also learned that you can really trick and play with peoples eyes with the way you set up a photograph. A strength I had was I knew how to copy and paste the object that I was putting into the background. This I learned from our other levitation photographs. I think that is a strength because it helps to create a better, more enjoyable photo.

Some of the challenges of this project was how to create a realistic looking object and at the same time meet the requirements. It was very hard to make the image that you were distorting look realistic. Another difficulty was coming up with ideas for the photos. The way I dealt with the difficulty of making the picture realistic was to make sure the photos were completely focused and not blurry. The way I dealt with the problem of ideas for photos was that I looked at the sites she gave us and looked at other’s ideas.
